If you knocked on doors with or for me, promoted my candidacy, contributed to my 2022 campaign, and/or collected petition signatures for the elimination of sales taxes on food and medicine, pat yourself on the back. You are an unsung hero to our working families.
You not only helped my campaign but also benefitted all 12.5 million residents of Illinois, every man, woman, and child.
Through donations to my campaign, from ordinary people like you, we were able to mail out 8200 postcards and pass out another 6000 at events and for knocking on doors. We were also able to take out ads in local publications. The resultant publicity got the issue on the legislative radar.
I believe that access to food, medicine, and medical appliances are human rights and that is morally unacceptable to tax human rights. I believe we should and can fix that.
The elimination of the “grocery tax” was a good start. But we need to go further. We still need to also eliminate ALL sales taxes on all prescription drugs and non-prescription pain relievers such as aspirin, acetaminophen, and ibuprofen, cough suppressants, antihistamines, antacids, laxatives, diarrhea remedies and medical appliances such as, but not limited to, crutches or canes, wheelchairs, walkers, braces, etc.
Help me finish the remaining two thirds of our goal by also eliminating the regressive sales taxes on medicine and medical appliances as well.
So, whether you live in my district or not, please consider a donation to my campaign.
With only 2 months to go until the November election, please contribute today. No contribution is too small. Every dollar makes a difference.
Do not send cash
If contributing by check, please fill out the Contribution Form and enclose with your contribution. Federal law requires us to use our best efforts to collect and report the name, mailing address, occupation and employer of individuals whose contributions exceed $200 in an election cycle.
