Michael Vijuk has lived with his wife, Beth, in Cary for over 20 years. McHenry County values its open spaces, close community feel, educational institutions and positive business climate. Protecting these values is why Michael Vijuk decided to run for office and continue his career of service.
Vijuk served the community for 30 years as a professor at Harper College teaching Business Management and Leadership principles to the next generation of entrepreneurs and professionals. He earned the distinction of Professor Emeritus from the Board of Trustees in recognition of his abilities and serving in leadership roles on various committees, including assuring continued accreditation for the business division to keep the college competitive.
Vijuk was also nominated as Teacher of the Year. As a member of the Local 1600, a branch of the Illinois Teachers Association and AFL/CIO, Vijuk also participated in union contract negotiations, serving as a representative of the union. He also served as a Constitutional Committee member for the local union.His dedication to civic engagement includes service as an Election Judge in the county and through an appointment to the Cary Police Pension Board.
